Background
Andrew has served as a faculty member in higher education for approximately 20 years, including 14 years in graduate-level healthcare education. He holds multiple business degrees from Indiana University and a Doctorate in Public Health with a concentration in Management from the University of Louisville.
His teaching and research portfolio has focused on healthcare quality, operations management, Six Sigma, organizational leadership, and project management. He currently serves as Chapter President and Director for the Kentucky Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt through the American Society for Quality and a Board-Certified Healthcare Executive through the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Previously, he served as Associate Program Director for the Master of Science in Health Administration program at the University of Louisville. He has also served as a Program Director for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Leadership, the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Learning, and Health Professions Education within the University of Louisville’s College of Education and Human Development. Earlier in his career, he served as Program Director for Organizational Leadership and Industrial Engineering Technology at Purdue Polytechnic in New Albany.

- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Public Health Management, University of Louisville, 2017. Designed, conducted, and analyzed a multi-year research project, resulting in over 800 pages of interview transcripts and the authoring of a 340-page qualitative dissertation that investigated the administration and implementation of workplace wellness activities, according to the Centers for Disease Control Workplace Wellness Health Scorecard.
- Quality Leadership University of Central America in Panama City, Panama. Studied Organizational Development.
- Master of Science, Strategic Finance (MSSF), Indiana University, April 2022. Development of knowledge, skills, and abilities in cost management, financial management, business analysis and valuation, financial statement analysis, decision modeling, simulation, fraud topics, and advanced corporate financial strategy.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA), Indiana University, August 2007. Created a unique community service project involving an executive-led team examining organizational objectives through a Six Sigma Value Stream Analysis at a large hospital in Louisville. Uncovered areas of waste through a quantitative analysis that measured the efficiency of patient flow from first contact to final payment.

- HCM 2110 - Introduction to Health System Organization: This course provides an overview of the organizational structure of health care services and the forces that influence the organization of health services in the United States. The perspectives of health and health status of Americans are examined in the context of cultural, economic, social and political forces.
- HCM 2130 - Managing Health Care Organizations: This course focuses on the structure, function, and interconnection of various health care organizations that make up the US health care system. Specific attention is paid to the unique challenges faced by healthcare managers in managing various healthcare professionals.
- HCM 3570 - Principles of Financial Management for Health Care: This course provides an introduction to the role of finance in the private and public sectors of the health services industry. Topics covered include corporate finance, financial markets, and sources of capital for healthcare organizations.
- HCM 4630 - Principles of Leadership for Health Service Organizations: This course informs and instructs in the theories, principles, and concepts of leadership, particularly applied to health service organizations. The aim of the course is to develop leadership skills, attributes, and behaviors to enable graduates to lead successful health care organizations.
- HCM 4950 - Seminar in Health Care Management: This course integrates all HCM courses and other core courses through readings, case and scenario analyses, and small projects. The course requires students to apply the concepts of accounting, financial management, quality management, marketing, business planning, operations, strategic management, and public policy specifically to the unique environmental, regulatory, legal, ethical, and professional demands of the health care industry.
- HCM 5740 - Marketing in Health Care: This course examines the strategic marketing processes of health services organizations. Topics include theories of buyer behavior and customer requirements, elements of the marketing mix, services as products, distribution channels unique to health services, pricing, and marketing communications.
- HCM 5960 - Cases in Health Care Management: This is the master of health administration program’s integrative activity. Students will integrate and apply knowledge, principles, theories, concepts, methods, techniques, skills, competencies, values, and viewpoints developed throughout the curriculum to resolve health care administration case studies and to complete an applied health care administration project. The course uses knowledge gained in all core curriculum courses and requires critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, creative capacities, qualitative and quantitative analysis.
