Background
Dr. Antwi joined the faculty at Appalachian State University after a distinguished global career spanning healthcare systems, the pharmaceutical industry, and academia. He brings interdisciplinary training in accounting, economics, healthcare management, and pharmaceutical outcomes research, having earned degrees from the University of Ghana, Nizhny Novgorod State University (Russia), Jiangsu Provincial University (China), and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. His professional experience spans four continents and includes roles as a Healthcare Financial Systems Specialist at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a Health Economics and Outcomes Researcher at AstraZeneca in Shanghai, and an Assistant Professor at Jiangsu University. He also served as a Teaching and Research Associate at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, where he managed collaborative, principal investigator–funded projects with Ontada (a subsidiary of McKesson Pharmaceuticals) and the Mid-Atlantic Center for Cardiometabolic Health Equity at Johns Hopkins University. His research focuses on patient-centered strategies for health systems improvement, real-world evidence generation, and pharmaceutical economics. His scholarly work has been presented internationally, and he has served as Principal Investigator on multiple projects, including evaluations of China’s maternity insurance policy across selected provinces.
